From 1994 AD to 2613 AD. In 1993, Dia held the yearlong exhibition One Thousand Days One Million Years, for which Kawara installed paintings from the Today series that had been executed in New York City. The exhibition also included his book work One Million Years (Past) and a sound work, One Million Years (Future). One Million Years (Future), which opens with the inscription "For the last one," was originally executed as an edition of leather-covered binders. At Dia, for the first time, it was presented as a recording, with a male and a female voice counting continuously, year upon year, into the future.
