The 31 colour-intensive ink sketches were created between 5 and 11 January 2022 in DIN A4 landscape format as a manuscript for "mood". In the weeks that followed, Richter wrote short aphorisms for each sheet, which, well-formed but without meaning, first unsettle and then exhilarate the reader. Designed by Richter as a reading book in DIN A5 format, the ink sketches, each preceded by his enigmatic comments in German and English, are arranged in chronological order as cut double pages and are bound as a flat book so that the coloured sheets run flat across the binding in their original format.
